This past weekend my fiancee and I took a pre-Valentine’s Day cruise to the Bahamas, so I’ve been away from the site for a bit. The trip was great by the way (thanks for asking!) even though I was forced to take a break from my running routine the entire time. However, I did get in some barefoot walking in Nassau, walking around the Atlantis resort and on the beach for a few hours. This week though I’m back though and will be pounding the pavement immediately after work. Also, depending on the outcome of a huge snowstorm that is supposed to hit tomorrow, I’d love to get in a trail run or two in my new Inov-8 F-lite 230′s. Anyways, just wanted to share a few running-related links that piqued my interest over the past few days…
- What about all that glass [Christopher McDougall] – I was alerted to this via Barefoot Josh, but Christopher McDougall, the author of Born to Run, is now blogging and was an obvious add to my RSS feed collection. Make sure to add him to yours as well! Here he looks into a fear tactic that many anti-barefoot runners use.
- Feet are not fists [Barefoot Josh] – Speaking of Barefoot Josh, he has a great post describing the difference between feet and fists.
- How to Transition into Vibram Five Fingers [RunBare] – A great “how to” guide to making the switch from running shoes to VFF’s.
- Doughnuts and Running: Two Great Things That Go Great Together [Running is Funny] – I’ve mentioned the Krispy Kreme Challenge before on my personal blog, but here is some coverage from this year’s challenge. I thought this would be cool to do at one point, but at this point I’ll leave it to the “professionals.” Pretty entertaining though!
- Just wanted to mention the next book in my reading queue, which is another by (and about) Dean Karnazes, 50/50: Secrets I Learned Running 50 Marathons in 50 Days-And How You Too Can Achieve Super Endurance! Because I loved Ultra Marathon Man so much, I assume this will be just as entertaining and educational.
- Tough Guy Challenge 2010 [Big Picture] – While I may mention my desire to run an ultra marathon at some point in my life, you’ll never read anything about me wanting to participate in anything like the Tough Guy Challenge in England. I guess I’m not a “tough guy” or something.
