Recent purchases and reads: Vita Coco, Honey Stinger, Why We Run and more…

Just felt like posting some of my recent purchases from Amazon, along with the most recent books I’ve read. Conveniently, through Amazon Associates, I can show you all of these great things in their snazzy carousel widget…with the possibility that I could make a buck or two! In case you were wondering, I feel no [...]

Why we run

Last week I finished reading Why We Run by Bernd Heinrich and just wanted to share a couple of thoughts on the book. At first my reaction to the book was that there was way too much Biology-speak and I’ll admit, there were parts where I started to lose focus (lots of talk about moths, [...]

Free Barefoot Running Guide

In case you’re thinking about transitioning to barefoot running or maybe you’ve already started, Jason of Barefoot Chronicles is offering a chance for a free copy of his e-book, The Barefoot Running Guide. I’ve already received my free copy and just realized that it is very thorough (86 pages!) I’ll be giving it a good [...]

Back from the Bahamas

This past weekend my fiancee and I took a pre-Valentine’s Day cruise to the Bahamas, so I’ve been away from the site for a bit. The trip was great by the way (thanks for asking!) even though I was forced to take a break from my running routine the entire time. However, I did get [...]

All (footwear) terrain running

The weather this past weekend was pretty nice (around 30F and sunny) so I was able to get in a fair amount of running. On Saturday I took my dog Mason out for his first jog (on a leash that is) of the year and we did around three miles before calling it quits. Yesterday, [...]

Barefoot running book by Michael Sandler coming soon

In case you were just starting to get into barefoot running and had tons of questions about how to do it, you might be in luck when barefoot running “super star” Michael Sandler’s book comes out this Spring. The book is titled, Barefoot Running: How to Become Healthy, Fit, and Blissful, by Getting in Touch [...]

Recent run summaries

Just felt like giving a recap of my recent running activities. This past Saturday, the weather was great so I had planned to give barefoot running a try in East Haven, CT. However, after a quick 1/3 mile loop outside my fiancee’s place and seeing broken glass and other strange stuff on the ground, I [...]

Recent purchases

Just wanted to share a few of the books I recently bought on Amazon (Christmas gift cards were nice!) While I’m no where near being able to run an ultra-marathon, Christopher McDougall’s book Born to Run (a must-read for runners) got me very interested in the stories of those crazy/badass enough to partake in these [...]

Wired for War

While some people look to Oprah for their book recommendations, apparently I prefer Comedy Central’s nightly news anchor Jon Stewart to give me mine. I’m now reading Wired for War by P.W. Singer, after just finishing Christopher McDougall’s Born to Run…both of which were featured on Stewart’s show at some point. Wired for War is [...]

Born to Run

Currently reading the book Born to Run by Christopher McDougall, about a tribe of super-runners in Mexico. Pretty interesting stuff so far, need to look into this iskiate stuff they drink…supposedly it’s like… a smoothie made from salmon, spinach, and human growth hormone….superpacked with omega-3s, omega-6s, protein, calcium, iron, zinc, fiber and antioxidants.
